Quite right. To pin to the taskbar, one must use Chrome. Basically, this makes it like an app with a button on the taskbar. So, perhaps, Edge for browsing, Chrome to access the calendar, though I have to admit I haven't moved to Edge for browsing so far, mostly because of this sort of thing.
